Day 01

DAY 1 Drove down with Gibby. 3.5 hour drive, no snow until we get to Cedar Mesa, then about 6+ inches all over. Get permit, then Gibby drops me off at beginning of Slickhorn/Government Trail road. Set up food drop on opposite (Cigarette Spring) side of road, then hike in thru snow to spring. Find slickrock spot under a tree that’s pretty dry for my camp, get some water in head of canyon, and try to stay awake. Finally give in about 5:30, asleep by 5:45 or so. Wake up a couple of time in night, twice by car on nearby frozen dirt road, but still sleep until 7:30. Cold wind all day.
