Day 04

DAY 4 Woke up to a little cloudy and breezy, but blew off about 9. Sunny and warm for my hike, then got windy about 2, cloudy again about 3, cloudy and very windy rest of the day. Not super cold, still 58 in my tent (7:20). Very warm last night, only got down to 40 in tent, 20 degrees warmer than two nights before – made for a clammy night’s sleep. Left for hike at 9:30, back at 2:30, same as yesterday. Went to Slickhorn #6, glad I didn’t camp there as I had originally planned, very open and ugly, a few cows wandering around. Found Pouroff Ruin right at head of canyon, small ruin, OK shape. Hiked downcanyon, lots of water, small pouroff, then long boulder field. Climbed down, then had to go up on left through snow to get the rest of the way down. Went to Big Ledge Ruin, which was mismarked on my map. Long climb up. Bigger ruin than I remembered (9 years since I was last here). Took pics and video and headed back. Faster back up snowy part than going down. Wind bad once I was up on top. Came back to camp and hid in my tent from the wind for the rest of the day, even pumped water in tent. Got dinner made and in bed a few minutes early. Looked like some clearing in west before I got inside, so I hope this blows out – the sooner the better. Headed back up road to Slickhorn #1 tomorrow, weather permitting.
