Day 08

DAY 8 Up just after 7, gone by 9:50 75 minutes on 4x4 road, 5 minutes on “real” dirt road, 10 minutes off road to campsite. Short day, made it before lunch. That’s only 2.5 hours for the closed section of Hat Flat Road. Super nice day, 70’s, occasional cold breeze, but quite warm. Still 60 at 6. Found water 10 minutes down canyon below camp (1st fork north of drill hole), also cairned light trail going down. Think I’ll try it tomorrow, see if you can get into lower Water C. Early enough and warm enough that I bathed and washed my hair – finally! Other than that, just kind of relaxed and enjoyed a nice afternoon with no chores and good weather. Found site below drill hole, no pottery at all, but tons of chippings. One little mealing bin type construction. Anyway, super mild night, saw shooting star.
