Day 09

DAY 9 Slept great, 9 hours without waking up once. Cloudy when I got up, but blew out by 9. Then sunny until about 5:30. However, wind slowly picked up all day, going pretty good by noon. Hid in nearby cove from 1-5 or so. Finally died down with sunset. Calm now. Hiked down canyon, following cairns. After water, came to dryfall, took ledge on right, took me along rim and into a side canyon, then down back to main canyon, but I turned back. Got water and back to camp. Hiked North onto hills above next fork, but found nothing. Back to camp. Went up to drill hole/road to GPS it and found faint chippings in sandy area immediately to south. Saw a truck in the distance. Back to camp. After that, hid from wind, caught up on reading. Down a bit today, don’t know if it was the wind or not finding anything, but hopefully tomorrow I’ll be a bit more enthusiastic. Mild night, 55 in tent at 7:25. Headed for Deer Canyon, back on original schedule. Don’t want to be here another day.
