Day 14

DAY 14 Another pretty nice day weather wise. Blue and hot in morning then windy after lunch. Got cloudy in afternoon, but most blew off by now. Very warm outside. Walk went by quick, about 2.5 hours to campsite from night 1, 20-25 more to pavement. Before I left camp this morning, noticed my hip belt starting to tear again. PISSED! (It also tore a year ago on my Grand Gulch trip, and had to be replaced). So I walked all the way to pavement (passed 4 wheeler group leaving, 3 cars going in, 5 people on horseback). Got food drop and started hitchhiking. After about 90 minutes or so 2 guys from Montana gave me a ride to the Ranger Station. Called home and arranged a ride. Then tried until 5:30 to hitch further north (Hanksville), but no luck, so now I’m camped in trees near to the Ranger Station. I’d feel worse if I hadn’t learned that a big storm is coming in tomorrow night. Hopefully ride is here early and we get home before it arrives.
