Day 14
Woke up to an overcast, slightly chilly morning. After breakfast, about 9, it cleared out and got hot. Hike up the front of the ridge to the crest, then follow the dirt road south until it ends. Right there is the Posey Trail. A SUV from Ohio is their, and I see 4 people below going down the trail. I continue south right along the rim. Great views. Finally I come to the Mountain Sheep Testicles, which is the high tooth right above where 95 cuts through the Comb. Climb up it and find the decrepit ruin almost on the top. Find a mano. Why they built such shabby ruins such a place is beyond me. Climb to the very top and take pics and video. Then its clear back to camp. See 5 deer on my way back, but at quite a distance. Barely get them on my camcorder at max zoom. Cut back through the parking lot and take some TP from the restroom, just in case. Back to camp just after 2, and it starts to blow and cloud up. Pump water and wash hair quickly, and about 4 I give up in the face of the wind and go read in my tent. Blows pretty good for a while, but dies down about dinner time. Make dinner, and about halfway through a big cloud domes racing in with wind. Persevere through the wind an eat in my tent. When I come out 25 minutes later, cloud is gone, wind is gone, and it is nice and mild. Clean up and its off to bed.
Ends up being the warmest night of the trip. Don't even cinch up my bag to sleep, and no frost in the morning.
