Day 05

Day 5 - Clear skies in morning. No rain from last nights clouds. Dayhike up South Fork. Numerous caves and ledges, and one really nice alcove 10 minutes up the canyon with water. Walls quickly get tall, hundreds of feet, all sheer cliff. Run out of water quickly, retreat to camp. Chill out at camp, catch up on Tacitus, get water, sweat, dinner and bed. When I first get back to camp from the hike, I was hiding in the shade of a nearby overhang when I saw 2 snakes battle to the death, biting and thrashing around. It ended with the big one (3') devouring the smaller one (1.5'). Pretty interesting.
