Day 01

Day 1 - Got dropped off about 3 or 4 miles from the river by my mom and my uncle Shawn. Took about 20 minutes to reach the intersection, where I saw a wild horse, a big black. Took a right, about 2 hours to reach the river. Main wash to cross before reaching the river is very muddy. Also very muddy by the bridge, looks like it has flash-flooded recently. Huge bird of some sort, possibly a turkey vulture. Unable to get a good look or a good picture. Down along the river, very hot. Crossed the river, found a trail. Finally started to enter a gorge, cross the river 2 more times, right at the mouth of Cat Canyon. Find a camp on a ledge about 10 minutes up the canyon. Site is the shade almost entire day. Camp, get some water from the river, take a (too long) nap. Pump water, refill jugs at river, dinner (late), in bed at 9. Water sucks!!!
