Day 06

Day 6 – Nice clear day, but windy all day sometimes very much so. Go past the Merry-Go-Round and Poor Canyon. 3 crossings to Poor Canyon, 3 more to a trail that takes me out to the old Torval Cabin. Then onto a dirt road, around Tomsich Butte, past the Tomsich Butte Trailhead, and back down the river. 5 more crossings, all in my boots. Find what I hope is the end of the Pasture Track – directly across from Penitentiary Canyon. Plan for tomorrow is to follow the Pasture Track above the Chute and into Chimney Canyon. Campsite sucks pretty bad. Very windy, no shade until 5:30, when wind finally stops at 7, the bugs come out.
