Day 08

Day 8 – Hot today, cloudy later in the evening. Bugs! First I went of the Sweet Fork (my name) – very beautiful, sculpted walls, water and plants everywhere, saw the two giant cottonwoods in the alcove, went all the way up all the little forks – superb canyon, probably the highlight of the trip. Then dayhiked up the North Fork (open with little vegetation, mostly just streambed \from wall to wall, must flow big sometimes), went to the pouroff, then back. More of the strange birds I saw back on day 3. Back to camp, hang out all afternoon, battling bugs and heat. Warm evening. See my first bat that evening at 4:10. Rodents try to steal one of my trash bags at 11:30 (PM), have to get out of tent, retrieve trash and store it all in my tent.
