Day 10

Day 10 – Sunny and hot. Down Chimney Canyon to find the southern part of the Pasture Track. Flail around on a hillside a bit, then spot it further downcanyon. It’s not in as good a shape as the northern section. Little Susan Mine site is next, some standing buildings, including a bunkhouse, and some collapsed buildings Pretty big site, but I didn't climb up to the mines – looked like quite a little climb. A number of different adits visible on the hillside. Pasture Track drops down a sidecanyon (where trail is very washed out) and back to the river. 1 hour from Little Susan Mine to my campsite – a nice sandy area under a big cottonwood, just a few hundred feet upriver from the mouth of Mud Canyon. River is right by my tent, and extremely shallow. Screw around the afternoon, get water (ugh). Lots of bats, out before six. Nearly full moon, very bright.
