Day 03

Day 3 - Pretty mild night, no frost this morning. Warm early on, off and on cold and warm rest of the day, lots of clouds. Slept way in, past 8 (11 hours!). Hiked up Elephant Canyon, looking for way into Virginia Park. Think I found it, fought my way up a snow-filled side canyon, finally reached a pitch I didn't dare do in the snow. Pretty sure it was the right spot, could see what I think is the tunnel into Virgina Park. Went back down, then further up Elephant Canyon, heading for Druid Arch. Couple of icy, snowy spots, one scramble up a frozen pouroff. Last bit up a snow-filled side canyon to an overlook. Druid Arch is very impressive arch, very large. Ate lunch, took a few pictures, chatted a minute with a couple that I caught up to right before arriving, then headed back to camp. Got my water, chores, watched a bunch of groups go by in the canyon beneath me. Mild night. Hear a lot of owls
