Day 13,14, and +1
Day 13 - Got up about 6, had a smoke, then went back to bed until almost 9. Sat around camp, got some water, finally set my watch ahead for daylight savings time. Ate half my lunch a little early, then had dinner about 3:30. Started hiking at 4:30, carrying enough water for breakfast and tomorrows drinking. Flew down the canyon, got farther than I'd hoped, in less time. Made it past the landing strip, about 8 miles in a little over 2 hours. Easy, fast walking on cow trails along the wash. Found a nice flat bench and set up camp and watched a nice sunset. Ate the rest of my lunch for dinner, had a couple of smokes, read and went to bed. Coyotes, owls, and a bunch of toads right by my tent. Very warm day.
Day 14 - Got up, had breakfast, packed up quick, and started walking. Did the last 6 miles in1 hr. 40 min. Saw a lot of people camped last mile or so, got passed on dirt road twice. Made it to pavement a little before noon, had to wait about 45 minutes until someone picked me up - a nice guy named Kurt who teaches English in Tokyo. Dropped me off at the Needles Outpost. Got me a campsite, took a shower, ate a bunch of candy and pop, had the best hamburger I've ever had, and sat around and read and smoked all afternoon. Hot, hot day, almost 90 at 3:30
Last Day - Got up, ate breakfast at the Outpost (excellent!), then went and sat by the road for a couple of hours until my ride came by, then back home.
