Day 1

Day 1 - My cousins brought me down to Green River in the morning. Dropped me off on the south side of Gunnison Butte at 9:30. Passed a freestanding rock with some heavily vandalized rock art on it. Already hot. At 10 had to stop to throw up repeatedly. Went and sat behind a rock in the shade for half an hour, then continued on. Passed old cabin/ranch across from Swayze boat ramp, old dirt road turned into rocky path. Made it to a rocky beach under a cottonwood at 11 before collapsing. Spent the next 3 hours throwing up, having cold shakes, hot flashes, hallucinations, in and out of awareness. Found myself laying in the sticks and leaves off of my tarp at one point, woke up just to throw up, can't even keep water down. Finally, after being sick again about 1, I started to come out of it. Was able to finally keep water down, but all I did was lay there the rest of the day and watch boaters float by. Feeling like I might live, I pumped some water and set up my tent about 6. Made dinner, but couldn't eat it - too spicy for my raw throat. Ate a power bar and crashed out a little after 8. A lot of bats around.
