Day 5

Day 5 – Wake up late (8), so left late (10:15) 2:20 to the turn, long, a little scrambling, especially just before getting there. 20 minutes across ledges (couple a little scary). 30 minutes down to Millard. Hot! Another day with no clouds. Water in river is muddy not, and Millard's is nasty, so I leave Millard with almost no water. 10 minutes up to road, 50 minutes on road, 30 minutes on slickrock, 30 more across Anderson to spring. One of the toughest slogs of my life. No water after end of road, so hot. Make it to spring, get water, find campsite, meet 2 canoeists. See them again later at the spring, one (Bruce Wand) gives me a water purifier. Didn't make it to spring until 5 (5 hour 30 minutes today), so everything is late. Eat after 8. Lots of bats, especially by spring. Lots of bugs. Will look around good tomorrow. Too tired today.
